Bakawali
Bakawali: ( Epiphyllum Oxypetalum)
More picture below
As I know, his plant also being called as Night Blooming Cereus, Dutchman’s pipe and Queen of the Night. According to a source of information this plant can be found in Mexico, Venezuala, Brazil and South East Asia. If I'm not wrong it belongs to cactus family cos the flower is like dragon fruit flower. My cousin who once was an NST photographer gave it to us when we attended the wedding of his two sons a few years ago. He had given me some sharp and nice photos of this flower from his garden which he had captured with his SLR camera. Anyway I lost the photos when my computer was attacked by virus.
First we grow it under the shady area but it did not grow very well. After we exposed it to the sunlight....thanks God! it grows rapidly with long leaves. This flower blossoms at night. It shows the sign to blossom at 10 p.m and around 11 p.m it already shows all the white petals. At 12 pm it blossoms completely. That's why some people do call it Queen of the Night. Sometimes one leaf can bear more than five flowers at once! Beautiful flower that resemble 'teratai'
.
Orchid
Tiger Orchid : (Grammatophyllum speciosum)
Love the nature:
Tiger orchid (Orkid harimau)
Tiger orchid is often known as ‘The World’s Largest Orchid’. With pandan-like leaves but arranged like coconut leaves the stems can reach more than 1 metre in length. You can see this species at the beginning of a trail at Rimba Ilmu University of Malaya. It is a rare plant and grows in hot and humid rainforest such as in Malaysia and Sumatera region.
After 10 years grows in my garden, it finally began to blossom on last November 2009 and right now it is still blooming. People do say that it can stand more than one month. The stalks of the flowers are about 1 to 1.5m in length bearing more than 10 big flowers and they grow from the base of the plant! There are five petals with brown dots on yellow background just like leopard skin. It is a fragrance flower that we often .can smell it in the morning.

Orkid Mayang Mengurai:
I haven't got the scientific name for this orchid. A friend of my loving sister gave this flower to her cos she gave up .....no flower produced after a year planted. Then my sister gave this orchid plant to me. Gosh! Thanks to God... finally this orchid blooming! We can see the long soft strand falling down with small flowers along just like 'bunga melati' that the Indian ladies woven for hair decoration. Just because it look like 'mayang kelapa' of coconut flower, I just call it as 'Mayang Mengurai'. It has a strong fragrance smell like bunga melati...but it is not long last. After a week fades away. The strands of this flower grow from the base of the plants.
Wild orchid
This purple wild orchid has fragrance smell. It is very beautiful and I luv it very much. Easier to flowering when it is exposed to sunlight. I bought it 10 years ago during Anggerik Festival in Shah Alam... still small plant at that moment. I still remember one Mat Saleh lady bought the bigger plant ..RM 70.00 without bargain..I have breed this orchid and it is quite easy to survive. Anyway do not give up if your orchids do not give any sign to bloom....InsyaAllah one day your dream will come true... Sabar itu separuh daripada iman.
